Latest Disgrace

Finishing lunch and listening to Fugazi via a 2208-song iPod shuffle, I am starting to feel a little worse. My neck was really bugging me, so I bought some ibuprofen earlier. 600mg later I was fine, but now it's starting to wear off. This sucks. I wish I could find that bastard who assaulted me. For tomorrow, I have people suggesting I run in either hockey or football gear. Maybe I should go roller derby style instead.

Saul Williams is going to be at the free concert in Golden Gate Park tomorrow. I've admired his poetry for the last 8 years or so and his freestyle called "Live At No Man's Land" that was recorded just before the invasion of Iraq is nothing short of incredible. Flowing over a NaS instrumental that samples the Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache", Saul Williams spits directly at thugged out MCs with zingers like,
"Put down the blunt now
No time to front now
Put your drink down
Time to think now
We’re on the brink now
Where my peeps at
The same cats that stole you
Are using you to steal Iraq"

I'm looking forward to his set out there. I feel like we're even closer to the brink these days...

I'm also looking forward to hanging out with all the runners who are coming out to the GGP XC meet. After last weekend's drama at the race it was really cool to feel like other runners were looking out for me and asking if I was alright. We all get together a few times a month as competitors but it's great to know that despite the competition there is a certain camaraderie in the NorCal running scene. A lot of runners were very curious and supportive after the race and it helped me feel a little better about the bullshit. I feel so bad today that I wish I could file assault charges against the guy.

Oh, and don't forget to bringdownbush.org.
