The Cessna ride to and from Redding this weekend was an opportunity to take some really cool photos. Unfortunately, I left my camera in the plane so the photos will have to wait until I can retrieve the camera from Nickel. The plane ride was really fun. I think I was way less stressed out about than my friends but then I have been in a couple car accidents in the last couple years. Cars are way scarier than airplanes. People pay way less attention in cars and there is way more stuff to hit.
Last night was great. We had good food at our campsite at Whiskeytown Lake, Nickel and I helped a teammate's 16 year old daughter with her trigonometry homework, and then I slept out under the stars. I woke up once when some jackass peeled out of the nearby parking lot and once another time because the moon was so bright. Then I was up at 6 and ready to race at 8. Our team did well but not well enough to win. I had a really so-so relay leg. I ran about 5:35 mile pace for 5.3 miles and it felt easy but lonely. We were a minute behind the leader when I started and it stayed that way until I finished. It's more fun to race near people but the whole Whiskeytown XC camp experience is pretty cool. It's a nice lowkey way to talk to a bunch of the team and just get to know some of the people a little better.
I am beat. G'night.
