It was inspired by the Rogue Wave song that's up in there. On the freeway in the middle of the afternoon today I was listening to that song and started thinking about how many songs have been written that have the golden state as the title, a theme, the focus or the setting. This is just a little list, really. I'm sure there a lot more since I put that together in about 3 minutes so I could listen to something while washing dishes.

Speaking of the Golden State, go Warriors! I live in Sacramento but the Warriors are my team. There, I said it. I think a lot of us Warrior fans will surface this season as the team makes a playoff run.

I wanna check out the illustrated version of Strunk and White's _Elements of Style_. Maira Kalman, widow of graphic design maniac extraordinaire Tibor, used her wonderful illustrations to take the book in a new, rad direction.

The other day I learned something about hip hop from NPR. Granted, it was Oliver "O-Dub" Wang reviewing an album of Motown remixes and O-Dub is a hip hop journalist of the highest degree, but still. I think I must be getting old if I look to NPR for music. By the way, I heard about that Kalman book on NPR, too. Hmmmph.

Beers. Have I mentioned how much I really enjoy a cold Mendocino Brewing Company Blue Heron Ale? Smooth.

I have a bit of knee pain. My favorite shoe falls apart every 3 weeks. Other shoes make my body hurt. Dilemma.
